Although yeast infections can affect many parts of the body, for women, the most common area of affectation is in and around the vagina. Symptoms include soreness and redness, itching and burning. Use only plain yogurt with active bacteria. Using a finger or plastic tampon applicator, insert directly into the vagina. A clove of garlic can also be inserted similarly, after being wrapped in gauze. Cranberry juice has been recommended and other drinks that contain acid. Douching with a solution of vinegar and water, 2-3 tablespoons per quart of water is also known to help.
